Robert 'Bob' Daniels was born in Mount Vernon, New York. He attended the public school system in this city and was an avid reader. His early love for books fueled his daydreams. He turned these daydreams into art. Pencils and crayons were his early mediums and his canvases were the brown paper bags that came from grocery shopping. Bob has won both art and athlete awards at every level starting in grade school. He won first prize in a county-wide high school art contest as a senior for his self portrait. He was a national NAIA high hurdle champion in 1969, setting a school record that stands today.

Bob is a passionate mixed medium contemporary artist who uses all types of mediums, tools and surfaces to express both his feelings and visions. Robert uses the colorful stories of his Caribbean heritage ( father) and his Indigenous culture (mother) to weave his visual stories. His mixed medium self portrait won third prize in the OVAL art show in Orlando, Florida in 2001.

Robert is a graduate of Herbert H. Lehman College in the Bronx, New York. He has a B.A. in Studio Art. His area of specialization is Printmaking and Graphic Design. He was a teacher of art in the New York City school system for over 20 years. He has also given lectures and art workshops for children and adults. In 2000, he was proclaimed a nationally recognized artist in the state of New York. This proclamation is a document in the state office building in Albany.

" My latest work incorporates both, the techniques of printmaking and drawing using color. I utilize the linear planes and curved lines to create dimensions that narrate my journey. My life has many stories, some happy, some sad. My art tells of the contrasting emotions within me."

Nappy Head Art has been exhibited extensively in the states, as well as internationally. He currently creates and exhibits most of his art in Italy.
